Shortly before Christmas Broome’s original village sign, dating from 2000, was re-unveiled by Beverly Hancy. Beverly is the daughter of the the original carpenter of the sign, Brian Dove, a long term resident of the village who carved it free of charge.

It was removed in 2018 when the woodwork was badly weathered and replaced by the sign featuring the village hall which was erected as part of the commemoration of the centenary of the armistice at the end of the 1st World War.

Beverly and her husband then organised the restoration of the first sign by the T.V. program ‘The Repair Shop’ and the result is that the colourful sign looks as good as new.

That’s the explanation why Broome has two fine signs standing next to each other.

The parish council would like to thank everyone involved with the project, including Beverly and David Hancy, and those who donated to the cost of the scheme and also undertook the work. As a result the scheme came with no cost to the village.
