    Very sadly Reg Holmes died suddenly at his home on Tuesday 25th February 2025. Reg had been a parish councillor since since 2003 rarely missing a meeting. A builder by trade he undertook free of charge many tasks for the council, including repairs in the play area, installing litter bins, fixing footpath signs and recently with other councillors helping to re-erect the original village sign in front of the village hall.

    The parish council now has all vacancies filled.

    County Council Broome is part of the Waveney ward of Norfolk County Council. The county councillor is Barry Stone (Conservative), e-mail barry.stone.cllr@norfolk.gov.uk.

    The county council is mainly responsible for education, social care, transport and fire services.

    District Council Broome is part of the Ditchingham and Earsham ward of South Norfolk District Council. The 2 district councillors are Brendon Bernard and Chris Brown (both Liberal Democrat), e-mail brendonbernard@me.com and chris.j.brown@virgin.net.

    The district council is mainly responsible for housing, planning, and refuse collection.

    Please note the organisation of the tiers of local government above the parish council are going to be altered with a new combined devolved Norfolk and Suffolk Mayoral Authority and below that unitary authorities to replace the district and county councils. The details of this are the subject of a new consultation process. They will take effect from May 2028.
